From our Community Partners
On Thursday, August 28, Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines will host a community-wide discussion about poverty in Forsyth County. This event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Green Street United Methodist Church, 639 S. Green Street. A national survey by The Brookings Institute puts metro Winston-Salem in second place on a list of larger metropolitan areas that have expereinced the greatest increase in the number of suburban poor people living in neighborhoods where at least 20 percent of the people are poor. The greater Winston-Salem area was ranked the worst metro area in the United States in having families with children that had a hard time putting food on the table, according to a study by the Gallup organization. Come see how we can help!
